Frequently Asked Questions
Programming & Virginization
Can you program a used module to a vehicle?
Most of the time it is quite possible, if the module comes from the same vehicle model and model year range.
What is module virginization? What modules can be virginized?
Module virginization is a reset of the data stored in a module, so the module reverts to a "New" condition — all adaptations, the VIN number and the mileage are reset. At the moment we can virginize any PCM and TCM modules, 2010-up IPC modules, BCM, PSCM, RFA and DDM/PDM modules. We do NOT virginize ABS or RCM modules, since these are important for vehicle/driver/occupant safety.
Retrofits
Would a retrofit void a factory warranty?
Not necessarily, but it depends. Generally speaking, if a retrofit is just a software activation, it usually will not void the factory warranty — however the warranty will not cover a system/option that was not present from the factory. If the retrofit process involves a modification of the wiring or adding additional hardware, in most cases it may void the affected system (i.e. the wiring, if it was modified).
Are the retrofits safe?
Most retrofits are just "enabling" a factory option that was disabled by software. Enabling such a feature is safe, since a factory would do it in exactly the same way.
Tuning
Is engine tuning safe?
Two options. #1 — Loading a factory calibration or changing the engine power in the CCF. This is absolutely safe, since it uses factory software (e.g. upgrading a 5.0SC engine from 470hp to 510hp — exactly the same hardware, just different factory software). #2 — Custom calibration. We pay extra attention to make these calibrations as safe as possible: we never switch off DTCs, limp modes or other safety mechanisms. However, you should realize that every gained horsepower requires special attention to fuel quality and engine mechanical condition, and may uncover hidden defects. Generally it is safe for a healthy and properly maintained engine.
Is transmission tuning safe?
Yes, it is. While it cannot fix an already worn transmission, it can make a healthy transmission live longer. We are not pushing it to the edge — we focus on providing a much better driving experience while maintaining transmission health.
Are you able to tune a transmission on a 2003-2006 Jaguar XJ or S-Type?
Yes, we definitely can and, unlike other companies, we are able to do the tuning not only through a direct connection to the TCM, but through the OBD socket too.
Can you do remote tuning?
Yes, we can and we do it frequently. However, if you are pursuing maximum power output, we would like to schedule an appointment at our partners to perform a vehicle health check before applying the tune.
Can you do an EGR/SCR/DPF/CAT delete?
While we can do it, we obey the law: to disable any kind of emission device you will need to sign a statement that after the modification the vehicle is intended for off-road use only, that it would be illegal to drive this vehicle on public roads, and that doing so would violate the law.
Tools
Why is OJ UDS Legacy no longer available?
It was our very first diagnostic system solution and, while being powerful, it had its own drawbacks. OJ UDS Cloud provides a much better user experience, is easier to upgrade and to extend with new options, and is more secure.
